Artitst' Interiors

Art, pattern and colour, are one of the many elements that make a space.

These features play an important role, when styling a room as they add character and personality, offering an insight into the residents lifestyle.

Cushions, lighting and accessories, typically the finishing touches sourced for projects as they should communicate and marry well within their environment. Art tends to be considered personal and sentimental to the individual, so if you are designing your clients space it may be a great way for them add their personal touch. Although, some clients are more comfortable with their designers selecting art on their behalf; ensure you consider their aura, charisma and style of living when choosing these pieces.

Shanade McAllister Fisher’s projects, have a clean, classic and contemporary feel. The tailoring of furniture, colours and accessories, transform the space shaping its presence and character. The burst of colour in this artwork allowed for a lively and bold program cohesively flowing through the spaces. The subtle repetition of design elements within this design, such as the art deco rugs allows the client and viewers to make visible affiliation as they travel through the property.

A great technique used by Fisher in her ‘Family Home’ project, is linking common features in two spaces. The kitchen area, has a panoramic view out to the blossoming greenery in the garden; alongside the indoor plants on the kitchen island and window sill. The visual connection between these two spaces, reinforces the concept of bringing the outside inside, enabling inhabitants to feel a visual connection to the greenery outside, and a physical connection to the greenery inside.

Fisher’s use of burnt orange connects all the spaces in this project. This technique takes the client on a continuous journey, flowing through their living and social spaces effortless.
