Green Interiors
Green has a cool, calming and serene personality.
A Green Interior, has the ability to make an individual feel free and fresh, similarly to the feeling experienced when surrounded by nature.
Within the interior design industry, green is typically used as a focal or accent colour. According to the visible light spectrum chart studies indicate that on green is highly familiar to the human eye and prominent in our everyday life.
Design studio Barlow and Barlow, Notting Hill project, embodies the success of a green interior.
The metro herringbone splash-back tiling, creates a guided view into the space. The floor to ceiling tiling in the shower and free standing bath area, creates the illusion of being in the Amazon on a retreat, having an outdoor bath (I am yet to experience this!).
Zoning through colour, is a great way to frame the viewers experience. The Pink backdrop softens the space and creates a distinguished contrast in the space from dark to light, instantly directing the viewers perspective into the room.
The neutral curtains, carpet, and gold accessories used in this project, help to channel the identity of the space and user. Pink and green are colours that compliment and balance one another, regularly seen in nature and fashion, due to its jubilant aura.
To create a similar theme in your space, you can experiment with having colourful soft furnishings and accessories, keeping the larger furniture pieces neutral and timeless. For example, bedding, cushions and throws can be playful and patterned, while your headboard and bed remain a classic neutral design. This will allow for ease in decorating and curation of your style, across all seasons.
How does a Green interior make you feel, and would you consider styling your space with it?
